Pop Up Container Cafes Are Taking Over Brisbane!

It’s been a week of pop up shops this week in the Gateway office. Two great container cafes have opened in Brisbane, with containers supplied and modified by us here at Gateway Container Sales & Hire. Keep reading to find out more about how ordinary shipping containers were transformed into tasty hang out spots for those needing their caffeine fix.

Kits Coffee & Snacks

This amazing graffiti covered container is located in the Centrelink complex behind Max Employment and opened on Monday the 27th of October. They’ve got a wide range of pre-packaged snacks, pies, ice creams, soft drinks and coffees to keep you going throughout the work day.

They started with a brand new 20 foot HC Reefer with the team of experts at Gateway Container Sales & Hire cutting out all the windows and doors in our specialised workshop. Afterwards Kit’s Coffee used their own contractors to do the electrical installation and add their own custom fittings.

The building has been decorated with graffiti art from a local Brisbane street artist in bright purple, orange and yellow. Using a second hand shipping container allowed a fast build, ease of transport and made the cafe secure so the team could close it up at the end of the day.

They loved working with Darren and the team from Gateway, finding every step of the process simple and easy and plan to set up more cafes in the region. Make sure you pay them a visit and grab one of their $3 opening specials, their top notch customer service is sure to turn you into a regular!

Cafe En Route

Cafe En Route is an interesting concept for a coffee shop – a drive through! You can find them at 399 Samford Road in Gaythorne. The cafe opened on Tuesday 28th October at the old Bob Jane T-Mart which was was a ‘drive in’ location in its past life. The site is still under the consideration of the landlord – so their choice of a shipping container gives them all the flexibility they need if they need to pack up and move at short notice – all they need is a truck and they are good to go!

Once again a 20 foot HC Reefer container from Gateway Container Sales & Hire was used. All of the cutouts, caps and roller doors were installed by Gateways’ on site workshop who worked with the projects architects to ensure their building was structurally sound and all joins were flush.

Cafe En Route commissioned a local artist from West End to do all the exterior artwork including the work on the glass opposite the container.
